Brightin Star has unveiled an AF 12mm f/2.8 ultra-wide-angle lens for full-frame mirrorless cameras, targeting Sony E and Nikon Z mounts. The lens provides a 122.5-degree field of view while controlling distortion for architectural and interior photography, contrasting with fisheye alternatives like AstrHori's offerings. Its optical design incorporates 15 elements in 11 groups, using HOYA extra-low dispersion glass and aspherical components to reduce chromatic aberration and maintain sharpness. A multi-layer coating enhances contrast and minimizes flare. Autofocus is driven by a stepping motor for quiet, precise performance suitable for video. Handling features include an AF/MF switch and a customizable function button. The lens is built with durability in mind, featuring a petal-shaped hood and rear sealing against dust and moisture.
