Brief Histories Gallery Presents '4.5 Billion Years' Group Show

exhibition · 2026-04-22

The group exhibition '4.5 Billion Years' at Brief Histories gallery in New York explores humanity's fleeting presence on Earth through multimedia works by six artists. Curated by Fawz Kabra, the show takes its title from the planet's age, contrasting it with the brevity of human history. The gallery, located on Bowery Street on what was once a Native American path, was founded by Kabra and Isak Berbic after they moved from Sharjah, where they organized their first group show in 2011 amid the Arab Spring. Works include Simon Benjamin's sculpture 'CORE' (2021) made from beach detritus, Himali Singh Soin's digital collage on silk, Ali Eyal's painting 'Paper, pen, map in a pocket and,' (2023), and Leila Seyedzadeh's textile piece 'East river flows through the Alborz mountains' (2023). The exhibition runs until 30 June 2023.
