Bride Wears Rose-Embellished Monique Lhuillier Gown for Flower-Free Palm Beach Wedding

Entertainment executive Anna-Kay Thomas married mental health advocate Ross Szabo at The Breakers in Palm Beach, Florida, in a ceremony devoid of floral decorations except for the rose appliqués on her Monique Lhuillier gown and a single calla lily. The couple, based in Los Angeles, chose to focus on essential elements. Thomas, a self-described contrarian Aquarian, wanted a bridal look that didn't scream bridal. The rose motif honors Szabo's late father, who planted a rose bush that continues to bloom. The calla lily is Thomas's favorite flower, which grows wild in Szabo's backyard. Thomas discovered the gown in a Monique Lhuillier catalog and, after not finding it in stores, the brand flew the only sample to California for her fitting. She also purchased a Vera Wang dress from the spring 2020 collection, the last in stock, which she wore to the reception and plans to repurpose. The couple was showered with rose petals after the ceremony.
