Brickle: A £3,650 Lego Sorter That Blends Design and Function

The Brickle Lego sorter, developed by the Newland brothers—engineer Matt, nano-scientist Ben, and LSE graduate Geoffrey—offers an elegant storage solution for Lego enthusiasts. Designed by Matt Newland, who works in the yachting industry, the unit resembles a plan chest and is manufactured in Cardigan, Wales. It features a construction surface on top with three or five rectangular slots for scooping Lego pieces, and four drawers with a sorting mechanism: the uppermost drawer has varied compartments for special pieces and Minifigures, while the two middle trays have holes of different sizes, allowing smaller pieces to fall to the bottom drawer and medium pieces to stay in the middle. The Brickle is built from FSC-certified birch plywood with options for cream, black, or natural oak veneer finishes. Available in two sizes—small and regular—the larger unit measures one metre wide, 65cm deep, and 56cm high, holds about 15kg of Lego (10,000 to 18,000 pieces), and weighs 56kg. The smaller 'Bach' unit is 63cm wide, same height and depth, holds 9kg, and weighs 40kg. Prices start at £1,460 for the small version, with the large oak version at £3,650. The company also offers matching shelves, stacking stools, and custom paint options from the RAL chart and other manufacturers. The Brickle aims to address the perennial problem of Lego storage while encouraging creative play.
