Bricault Design's Whistler Hideaway cabin echoes mountain peaks in British Columbia

architecture-design · 2026-05-12

Vancouver-based Bricault Design has completed Whistler Hideaway, a 1,268-square-foot cabin in British Columbia, Canada, designed to blend with its mountainous surroundings. The angular form, clad in charcoal slate with copper accents, references steep shale slopes above the tree line. Green roofs with drought-resistant plants and a high-efficiency subsurface irrigation system top the structure. The interior features Pacific madrone hardwood, custom fluted furniture legs, form-bent mirror frames, and copper screens with Japanese floral motifs. The program is arranged vertically along the natural slope, with communal areas below and private spaces above. Triple-glazed windows and locally sourced renewable materials enhance the high-performance envelope. The studio prioritized preserving wildlife corridors and minimizing visual impact. Marc Bricault led the design team with Travis Stasney and Maxime Millard. Photography by Janis Nicolay.
