Brian Eno's Italian double exhibition in Perugia and Venice
Brian Eno, the British ambient music pioneer and visual artist, will be the focus of two exhibitions in Italy this September. From September 4, at the Galleria Nazionale dell'Umbria in Perugia, his works will dialogue with masterpieces by Piero della Francesca, Beato Angelico, and Perugino from the museum's collection. From September 5, at the Galleria Michela Rizzo in Venice, Eno will share the space with British artist David Tremlett, who recently created a new wall painting in the Langhe region. The Venice exhibition includes collaborative works and site-specific installations in dedicated rooms. Eno, who describes himself as a 'non-musician,' has long explored the intersection of sound and visual art, stating, 'Painting and music have always been intertwined for me.' He reflects on his practice as an attempt to slow music to resemble painting and to animate images to approach music, hoping the two activities meet and merge.
