Brian Eno's Immersive 'Gibigiane' Exhibition at Galleria Michela Rizzo, Venice

exhibition · 2026-04-26

Brian Eno presents his third solo show at Galleria Michela Rizzo in Venice, titled 'Gibigiane'—a dialect word for the shimmer of light reflected on water or a mirror. The exhibition, held in the former industrial space on Giudecca, features generative art, serigraphs, LED lightboxes, textile works, and a functioning turntable sculpture 'Turntable II' (first exhibited February 2024). Eno's lightboxes, made of LED lights, perspex, and wood, engage in a dialogue with Dan Flavin's minimalist legacy; 'Still' and 'Ovation' were created for a two-person show with Flavin. The textile pieces, three tapestries based on 1990s works made with Kid Pix software, are produced by A Collection (founded by Giovanni Bonotto and Chiara Casarin in 2019) using recycled plastic certified by GRS. The exhibition also includes 'Umbria II', a site-specific lightbox previously shown at Galleria Nazionale dell’Umbria in dialogue with Beato Angelico's 'Polittico Guidalotti'. Eno's practice aims to slow down perception and counter 'distracted reception' (Walter Benjamin), offering visitors time for reflection.
