Bressanone Water Light Festival Goes Biennial from 2024

festival-fair · 2026-04-26

Starting in 2024, the Bressanone Water Light Festival in South Tyrol will transition to a biennial format. Established in 2015 and launched in 2017, this festival showcases works from both local and international creators while emphasizing environmental sustainability. The shift to a biennial schedule is intended to uphold high exhibition quality, particularly as it becomes part of the Image Peace initiative, which encompasses festivals in Oslo, Copenhagen, Essen, and Pula, highlighting peace and Ukrainian light artists. The upcoming festival is scheduled for April 29 to May 17, 2026, featuring artists such as Julia Shemsheiva and Anish Kapoor. Additionally, a sustainability tool for light art festivals will be introduced. Director Werner Zanotti highlighted the importance of long-term artistic aspirations and responsible consumption.
