Brescia's Cultural Renaissance: Three New Museum Openings

Brescia has seen the opening of three new cultural venues between April and May, marking a significant revival for the city's artistic heritage. The Pinacoteca Tosio Martinengo reopened after nine years of closure, under the leadership of president Massimo Minini and director Luigi Maria Di Corato. The museum features a contemporary reinterpretation of its collection, with wall colors inspired by Anish Kapoor, juxtaposing works by Raphael, Foppa, Savoldo, Lotto, Moretto, Romanino, Canova, and Thorvaldsen. Nearby, the apartment of Paolo and Paolina Tosio in Palazzo Tosio, designed by architect Rodolfo Vantini, reopened as a house-museum after restoration by Fondazione Brescia Musei and Valerio Terraroli. Additionally, the Martes museum opened in Calvagese della Riviera, founded by Luciano Sorlini, showcasing his collection of Venetian art including works by Canaletto, Tiepolo, Rosalba, and a Bellini, along with period furnishings and maiolica. The project was overseen by Stefano Lusardi with support from Silvia and Stefano Sorlini.
