Brescia Metro Becomes a Traveling Street Artwork by Luca Font
For the 10th anniversary of the Brescia metro, street artist Luca Font has created 'Connessioni', a 400-square-meter mural at the via Magnolini depot and, for the first time in Italy, an entire metro train wrapped in his signature patterns, colors, and minimalist geometries. The project, included in the Brescia Bergamo Capitale della Cultura 2023 program, turns the metro into a 'metro d'autore', merging sustainable mobility (18 million km traveled, saving 55 million kg of CO2) with aesthetic research. Emotitech, the startup behind the initiative, describes the work as a metaphor for the journey on Brescia's light metro, conveying values of sustainability, dynamism, and technology, with an elegant iconic masking depicting an imaginary bird.
