Brescia Launches Prospero Digital Platform for Civic Art Collections
Brescia has launched Prospero, a proprietary digital catalog of its civic collections, developed by Fondazione Brescia Musei and the Comune di Brescia in partnership with Evoluzione Telematica. The platform reorganizes over 51,000 already digitized records out of an estimated 90,000 objects, initially offering more than 1,100 works from the 'Opere d'Arte' and 'Disegni' sections. Named after Prospero Rizzini, the 19th-century director who modernized the museum's cataloging, the platform provides open, authoritative data without registration, validated by conservators. Supported by Metal Work and the Servizio Civile project, Prospero aligns with the bicentennial of the Vittoria Alata's discovery, positioning Brescia as a model of technological innovation and cultural transparency in European museums.
