Brescia 2023: Major Exhibitions and Museum Renewals for Italian Capital of Culture
Brescia, alongside Bergamo, has been designated as the Italian Capital of Culture for 2023 and has initiated a vibrant cultural agenda featuring significant exhibitions and museum upgrades. The program kicks off with the UNESCO Corridor project, which connects the Brixia Roman Archaeological Park to the Museo di Santa Giulia. A project by Giacomo Ceruti, accompanied by photographs from David LaChapelle, will be showcased at the Pinacoteca Tosio Martinengo. The new Museo del Risorgimento Leonessa d'Italia is set to open at Castello di Brescia in late January. In June, Fabrizio Plessi will take over as artist-in-residence from Emilio Isgrò. The initiative also highlights Cinema Nuovo Eden and promotes human rights through the work of dissident artists. Francesca Bazoli expressed a commitment to enhancing cultural heritage, while Tommaso Sacchi pointed out the collaboration among cities in Lombardy.
