Brera's Masterpieces Explored Through Ignazio Gadaleta's Artist Book

Ignazio Gadaleta, a painter and professor at the Accademia di Brera, has published "Brera all'altezza dei nostri sguardi" (Marsilio, Venice 2019), a book that presents seventy-seven photographic details of works from the Pinacoteca di Brera. The volume, introduced by museum director James M. Bradburne, includes a theoretical text and aims to train the eye by focusing on overlooked details. Gadaleta, an aniconic painter since the 1980s, frequents the museum with his students. The book spans from the Maestro di San Verano to Hayez, covering medieval to 19th-century painting.
