Brera Design Apartment opens to public after Design Week exclusivity

architecture-design · 2026-04-26

The Brera Design Apartment, previously exclusive to Design Week, is now open to the public by appointment from May 2 to 25 at Via Palermo 1, Milan. Designed by Giorgia Zanellato and Daniele Bortotto of Zanellato/Bortotto studio, the apartment explores the theme of the horizon, connecting each room to a different inspiration. The kitchen evokes Luigi Ghirri's photographs of the Po River with flat pastel colors; the dining room references the Venetian lagoon with metallic tiles called Barene; the living room features the foggy atmosphere of Venice (caìgo) with a vintage Arc en Ciel lamp by Andrea Bellosi for Studio Alchimia; the bedroom draws from a Namibian sunset with a hand-dyed iron bed for Bolzan; the bathroom recreates Mount Etna with irregular micromosaic tiles and volcanic resin flooring; the hallway depicts a sunset sky from an airplane window. The project aligns with Fuorisalone's theme 'Connected Worlds' and includes artworks from Galleria Luisa Delle Piane, selected with Miart artistic director Nicola Ricciardi, and pieces by Giuditta Verdrame. The apartment also showcases collaborations with partner companies like Moroso (Clay armchair with ceramic from Nove, Vicenza), Botteganove, Bolzan, and Rezina. The tour ends with a lamp by Davide Groppi suggesting an escape beyond the horizon.
