Brera Academy Students Curate Exhibition on Women in Its Archives
At the Salone Napoleonico, the exhibition titled 'L’avvenire appartiene ai fantasmi. L’Archivio delle donne nell’Accademia di Brera' is being held until October 25, 2022. This event was organized by students from the Biennio Specialistico in Visual Cultures e Pratiche Curatoriali at Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan. It delves into the presence of women in Brera's archives over the past 250 years, highlighting numerous female students but only a handful of acknowledged artists. Curated by Sofia Bellina and others, the exhibition showcases works from Emanuela Ascari, Vanessa Beecroft, and more. Initiated by professor Raffaella Pulejo, the project aims to investigate historical gender dynamics through contemporary art. Plans for the future include a historical exhibition on artists and gentrification in the Brera district, with publications supported by the Academy.
