Brent Launches Inaugural Biennial with 23 Commissions Across London Borough
The inaugural Brent Biennial, organized by Brent 2020, is taking place from 19 September to 13 December 2020. This event features 23 new commissions that delve into the history and cultures of Brent through various artistic expressions. Lois Stonock serves as the artistic director, collaborating with ArtReview for public programming. Brent has become the second borough in London to earn the Borough of Culture title, following Waltham Forest. The projects will be displayed in libraries and community venues, with contributions from artists such as Pio Aad, Barby Asante, and Dawn Mellor, who is set to create a mural in tribute to George Michael. The biennial seeks to celebrate Brent's rich diversity and foster community involvement through art.
