Brazilian Photographers Shine at Sony World Photography Awards 2026 with Six Finalists
Six Brazilian photographers have been selected as finalists in the Sony World Photography Awards 2026, one of the world's largest photography competitions. The edition received over 430,000 images from more than 200 countries. In the Professional category, André Tezza placed second in Architecture & Design, and Daniela Balestrin was a finalist in Documentary Projects. In the Open competition, Ramatis Haywanon da Costa and Francisco Lima Saraiva were finalists in Architecture, while Camila de Medeiros Fantinel and Andre Magarao were finalists in Lifestyle. The overall Photographer of the Year title went to Mexican photographer Citlali Fabián for her series 'Bilha, Stories of my Sisters', depicting indigenous women from Oaxaca. The prize includes US$25,000. Winning and shortlisted works will be exhibited at Somerset House in London from April 17 to May 4, featuring over 300 prints and hundreds of digital images. Other winners include Elle Leontiev (Australia) in the Open competition, Jubair Ahmed Arnob in the Student category, and 16-year-old Philip Kangas (Sweden) in the Youth competition.
