Brazilian design brand ETEL opens Milan space inspired by Lina Bo Bardi's Casa de Vidro

architecture-design · 2026-05-05

ETEL, one of Brazil's most important design companies, has opened a new space in Milan on November 9. Located in a historic building on Via Maroncelli in the Porta Nuova district, the interior draws inspiration from Lina Bo Bardi's Casa de Vidro in São Paulo, a legendary meeting place for the city's cultural elite. ETEL is known for reissuing works by great Brazilian designers such as Lina Bo Bardi, Sergio Rodrigues, Oscar Niemeyer, and Jorge Zalszupin, respecting original materials and techniques, while also focusing on contemporary creation and sustainability. Founder Etel Carmona has initiated projects in the Amazon based on forest care and repopulation, as well as creative reuse of processing waste and imperfect wood for accessories. The inauguration featured photographs by Ruy Teixeira, curated by Lissa Carmona, exploring São Paulo's evolving architecture between modernism and contemporaneity, also collected in a photo book.
