Brazil and Georgia Pavilions at 2022 Venice Biennale
At the 59th Venice Biennale, titled 'The Milk of Dreams' and curated by Cecilia Alemani, the Brazil and Georgia Pavilions tackle pressing contemporary issues. Brazil's exhibit, 'Com o coração saindo pela boca,' curated by Jacopo Crivelli Visconti, explores Brazilian cultural narratives through expressions related to the human body, showcasing photographs, sculptures, and a video installation, including a striking 45-meter fiberglass figure named Eva. Meanwhile, Georgia features 'I Pity the Garden – Mi fa pena il giardino' by Mariam Natroshvili and Detu Jincharadze, drawing inspiration from Forugh Farrokhzad's poetry to delve into themes of memory and everyday existence through a video and immersive VR experience. The Biennale is open from April 23 to November 27, 2022.
