Brandt Andersen's 'La última travesía' Premieres at Berlinale, Wins Amnesty International Award

Brandt Andersen's feature film 'La última travesía' had its world premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival, where it received the Amnesty International Award. The jury praised the film as 'an achievement in every sense: from the script to the narrative perspective and the actors' performances,' noting its emotional impact. The film is divided into five sections—The Doctor, The Soldier, The Trafficker, The Poet, and The Captain—intertwining the stories of five strangers in war-torn Aleppo, Syria. A doctor flees with her young daughter, crossing paths with a smuggler willing to do anything to save his son, a soldier torn between duty and conscience, a poet seeking a home, and a coast guard captain caught between law, duty, and compassion. Inspired by Andersen's Oscar-nominated short film 'Refugee,' the film stars Omar Sy, Yasmine Al Massri, Yahya Mahayni, Ziad Bakri, Constantine Markoulakis, and Jason Beghe. Cinematography is by Jonathan Sela, music by Nick Chuba. The film is a co-production of Jordan, Palestine, and the United States, running 97 minutes. It will be distributed in Spain by A Contracorriente and Selecta Visión.
