Botto&Bruno Install 'The Ballad of Forgotten Places' at Musei Reali Torino

At the Galleria Sabauda in the Musei Reali di Torino, the Italian artistic team Botto&Bruno, consisting of Gianfranco Botto and Roberta Bruno, has unveiled 'The ballad of forgotten places.' This installation, which won the third edition of the Italian Council competition in 2018 organized by the Fondazione Merz, was developed by the Direzione Generale Creatività contemporanea e Rigenerazione urbana under the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism. Since February 20, 2020, it has been part of the museum's contemporary art collection. Situated in the neobaroque Sala degli Stucchi, the work illustrates the layered history of Turin's suburbs. Central to the piece is a book featuring 150 watercolor images of peripheral landscapes, symbolizing a contemplation of contemporary ruins and the importance of preserving suburban memory. Botto&Bruno argue that art should expand perspectives and safeguard the history of places, asserting that neglect in the periphery can ultimately harm the center.
