Botticelli's Renaissance Meets Contemporary Art at MART Rovereto

The exhibition "Botticelli. Il suo tempo. E il nostro tempo" at MART Rovereto juxtaposes Sandro Botticelli's Renaissance masterpieces with contemporary reinterpretations. Curated by Alessandro Cecchi (historical section) and Denis Isaia (contemporary section), the show features loans from the Uffizi, including the "Ritratto di fanciullo con mazzocchio" (c. 1470-71) and the "Adorazione dei Magi" (1509-10), alongside works by Filippo Lippi, Pollaiolo, and Andrea del Verrocchio. The Renaissance section culminates with Botticelli's "Venere" (1495-97) from the Musei Reali di Torino. The contemporary section includes works by Giosetta Fioroni, Mario Ceroli, Cesare Tacchi, Renato Guttuso, Piero Gilardi, Michelangelo Pistoletto, John Currin, David LaChapelle, and photographers like Rineke Dijkstra, Miles Aldridge, Juergen Teller, Loretta Lux, and Joel-Peter Witkin. Fashion contributions from Rosa Genoni and Valentino, and a film installation featuring Visconti, Gilliam, Cuarón, and Polanski, explore Botticelli's enduring influence on visual culture.
