Botticelli docufilm 'Botticelli e Firenze' hits Italian cinemas November 28-30

The documentary 'Botticelli e Firenze. La Nascita della Bellezza', narrated by Jasmine Trinca, will be screened in Italian cinemas on November 28, 29, and 30. Produced by Sky, Ballandi, and Nexo Digital with the patronage of the Comune di Firenze, the film is written by Francesca Priori and directed by Marco Pianigiani. It explores Sandro Botticelli's life and works, featuring interviews with experts including Alessandro Cecchi (Director of Casa Buonarroti), Ana Debenedetti (Victoria & Albert Museum), Franco Cardini (University of Florence), Jonathan Nelson (Syracuse University Florence), Marco Ciatti (Opificio delle Pietre Dure), Kate Bryan, Chiara Cappelletto (University of Milan), and Edward Buchanan (Sansovino 6). The documentary highlights Botticelli's masterpieces 'Primavera' (1477-1482) and 'Nascita di Venere' (1485), and his influence on contemporary figures like Terry Gilliam, Andy Warhol, David LaChapelle, Jeff Koons, and Lady Gaga. It also notes that Botticelli was largely forgotten for 300 years after his death.
