Bosco Sodi's 'In Saecula Saeculorum' at Brand New Gallery Milan

Bosco Sodi, a Mexican artist born in 1970, presents his first solo exhibition at Brand New Gallery in Milan, titled 'In Saecula Saeculorum' (Latin for 'forever and ever'). The show features a collection of linen canvases where Sodi explores the materiality of color through a physical and performative painting process. Using a mixture of pure pigment, natural fibers, sawdust, wood pulp, water, and glue, he creates monochrome, crusty surfaces that evoke primordial landscapes. Colors range from coral red to cadmium orange, violet, white, and black. The works emerge without premeditated spatial organization, driven by the vibrant energy of the artistic gesture, resulting in seemingly timeless, telluric maps. The exhibition emphasizes process over product, treating painting as an action akin to performance.
