Børsen visitor centre opens in Copenhagen after 2024 fire

architecture-design · 2026-05-07

Two years after a devastating fire engulfed Copenhagen's 17th-century Børsen, a new visitor centre designed by JAC studios offers public access to the ongoing reconstruction. The centre, built from 15 industrial containers, features an exhibition on the building's history, restoration techniques, and materiality. Around 40% of original bricks are being reused, and sandstone sculptures that survived the fire will be reinstalled. Large openings in the containers provide views of the construction site, allowing visitors to compare old and new. The project is overseen by Dansk Erhverv, the Danish Chamber of Commerce.
