Boris Charmatz performs 'La Chaise' at Centro Pecci Night

On October 24, 2025, the Centro Pecci in Prato hosted a Pecci Night featuring a performance of 'La Chaise' by French dancer Boris Charmatz (born 1973 in Chambéry). The evening included a deep listening workshop with Diana Lola Posani, a book presentation of 'Le Nemesiache: Reclaiming Mythological Rituals' by curator Sonia d'Alto, and the 'Dentro l'opera' format focused on the exhibition 'Viviamo. Arte e affetti, HIV-AIDS in Italia, 1982-1996' curated by Michele Bertolino. Experimental music concerts by Farida Amadou and Lukas De Clerck bookended the dance piece. Curated by Kinkaleri and supported by Toscanaincontemporanea 2025, 'La Chaise' is an improvisation exploring the relationship between static and mobile elements, based on the oxymoron of listening to dance. Charmatz's poetics revolve around reversal and horizontality, challenging hierarchies. In 2009 he founded the Musée de la Danse, a ten-year project collaborating with Tate Modern and MoMA. Since 2019 he has led Terrain, a company without a theater that operates in urban space. 'La Chaise' is part of Terrain and was staged within the exhibition spaces of Centro Pecci.
