Borgo Universo Festival Merges Street Art and Astronomy in Abruzzo

From July 6 to 9, the charming town of Aielli in the L'Aquila province of Abruzzo is set to celebrate the Borgo Universo festival. This unique event combines street art with astronomy, literature, music, and theater. A highlight is the Torre delle Stelle, a 14th-century building that houses the highest astronomical observatory in central Italy. Eight talented street artists, including Aris, Gio Pistone, and Never2501, will paint murals inspired by the sky on various historic buildings, transforming the town into a vibrant outdoor gallery. Curator Andrea Parente, known as Aleg, believes these murals are powerful forms of expression. Mayor Enzo Di Natale views the festival as a way to enrich the community's charm, drawing parallels to similar successful projects in places like San Salvatore di Fitalia, Sicily.
