publication · 2026-04-27

A new book titled "Sono innamorata di Pippa Bacca. Chiedimi perché!" by Giulia Morello, published by Castelvecchi, commemorates the life and work of Italian artist Pippa Bacca (born Giuseppina Pasqualino di Marineo). Bacca was murdered on March 31, 2008, during a performance piece in which she hitchhiked from Milan to Jerusalem wearing a wedding dress, accompanied by artist Silvia Moro. The journey traversed 11 countries including Bosnia, Bulgaria, Croatia, and Turkey, where she was raped and strangled by a man who was later sentenced to 30 years in prison. The 160-page book follows a theatrical production directed by Morello and aims to preserve Bacca's memory, creative practices, and passion. Bacca was the granddaughter of renowned artist Piero Manzoni.
