Bonomo Faita and Elisabeth Scherffig at Franco Toselli Gallery, Milan

exhibition · 2026-04-27

Franco Toselli, the historic Milanese gallerist, presents a dual exhibition titled "L'arte che non ragiona" (Art That Does Not Reason) at his nomadic gallery's new location in via Tortona 31, Milan. The show features works by Bonomo Faita (born 1955, Brescia) and Elisabeth Scherffig (born 1949, Düsseldorf, living in Milan for fifty years). Faita contributes fairy-tale drawings populated by benevolent wolves and ants, previously seen in his Portofranco series. Scherffig, showing for the first time at Toselli's gallery, presents complex drawings that intertwine visual textures with nature and architecture, born from persistent observation using photography and meticulous small strokes. Her works depict buildings under construction, quarries, and vineyards. Some of Scherffig's refined pieces are also held in the collection of Massimo and Francesca Valsecchi at Palazzo Butera in Palermo. Toselli's poetic text for the exhibition states that many lives flow through the show, from the gaze of Piranesi to the brush of Watteau.
