Bonhams to Sell Contents of Monreith House, Clan Maxwell Seat
In July 2025, Bonhams will host two auctions featuring the contents of Monreith House, the ancestral home of Clan Maxwell located in Scotland. The first part, a live auction, is scheduled for 8 July at 11am in Bonhams' Edinburgh saleroom on Melville Crescent. The second part will be an online auction, commencing on 25 June and concluding at 11am on 9 July. Attendees can view all lots from Part I, along with selected highlights from Part II. Built in 1791 by Sir William Maxwell, 4th Baronet, Monreith House is a Georgian structure overlooking White Loch, designed by architect Alexander Stevens, and it incorporates features from the earlier Myrton Castle.
