Bonhams to Auction Eddi Van Auken's Cane Collection in New York This December

Bonhams will auction The Eddi Van Auken Cane Collection: Masterpieces on December 8 in New York, featuring 97 canes from the late San Francisco collector Eddi Van Auken (1946–2024). This sale follows the successful October 1 auction of Van Auken's collection, which sold over 97% of lots and totaled nearly half a million dollars. The collection spans centuries and regions, with pieces crafted from silver, gold, enamel, and gemstones, showcasing both virtuoso craftsmanship and whimsical designs. Anna Hicks, Head of Private & Iconic Collections at Bonhams, noted that the canes represent cultural symbolism and social history, reflecting Van Auken's unconventional eye. The auction is the second in a series dedicated to Van Auken's remarkable cane collection.
