Bonhams Paris to Auction Soviet Non-Conformist Art Featuring Nissky and Vechtomov in January 2026

Bonhams Cornette de Saint Cyr will host an online auction of Soviet Non-conformist art from January 16 to 26, 2026, in Paris. Over 55 paintings by artists including Georgiy Grigorievich Nissky, Dmitry Krasnopevtsev, Nikolai Vechtomov, Leonid Anatolevich Purygin, and Igor Shelkovsky will be offered. A highlight is Nissky's oil on canvas 'Hikers' from a private collection, estimated at €50,000-70,000. Nissky, who died in 1987, founded the severe style and specialized in industrial landscapes. His early 1930s works drew from childhood memories, while postwar pieces depicted snowy forests and railways. His art resides in the State Tretyakov Gallery and the State Russian Museum, among other major institutions. The sale focuses on Non-conformist art from the Soviet Union, showcasing significant postwar Russian artists. Paris serves as the auction location for this specialized event.
