Bonhams Paris to Auction Rare Asian-Assembled Meissen Porcelain Collection Including Augustus the Strong Pieces

On April 22, Bonhams Cornette de Saint Cyr in Paris will conduct a Classics auction showcasing an extraordinary private collection of European porcelain from Asia. This event marks the inaugural auction of such a collection, underscoring the long-standing cultural interactions between East Asia and Europe. Among the remarkable items are early Meissen works, including pieces from the collection of Augustus the Strong, Elector of Saxony and King of Poland. A standout is a rare celadon-ground baluster vase and cover from Meissen, dating back to circa 1727-30, with an estimated value of €50,000-80,000. Additionally, the auction features two black-glazed Böttger stoneware pieces that mimic Japanese ceramics, representing over four centuries of art and antiques.
