Bonhams' Modern Decorative Art & Design Sale Features Rare Giacometti Buttons for Schiaparelli and Gallé Vase
On 16 December at Knightsbridge, Bonhams will host its Modern Decorative Art & Design auction, featuring a remarkable Émile Gallé 'Rose de France' vase from approximately 1903, valued between £120,000 and £180,000. This exquisite item comes from a distinguished private collection in Japan. Additionally, the auction will showcase two rare Alberto Giacometti 'Femme aux Bras Levés' buttons, designed for Elsa Schiaparelli around 1938, each estimated at £5,000 to £8,000. Notably, this button design was also utilized on a coat for Marlene Dietrich. Otto Billstrom, who leads Bonhams' Modern Decorative Art & Design Department, emphasized the exceptional offerings, which include Tiffany Studios lighting and works by Lucie Rie, appealing to collectors.
