Bonhams London Auction Features South African and Nigerian Art During Historic Nigerian State Visit

Mark your calendar for March 19, 2026, because Bonhams is hosting its Modern & Contemporary African Art auction at New Bond Street in London. The event will spotlight significant artworks from South African artist William Kentridge and still lifes by Irma Stern. You can also expect to see pieces by Lisa Brice and notable Nigerian modernists Ben Enwonwu and Uzo Egonu. This auction coincides with the first Nigerian state visit to the UK in 37 years, led by President Bola Tinubu and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu. Giles Peppiatt, the Group Head of Fine Art in the UK, noted that the sale brings together key works from both South Africa and Nigeria.
