Bonhams Jewelry Department Reports Strong 2025 Results with Cartier Tiara Sale
Bonhams global jewelry department maintained robust performance in 2025 following a record-breaking 2024. The department conducted 97 auctions across eight locations, selling more than 15,000 lots, with 70 of those sales occurring exclusively online. Among the notable transactions was a Cartier Art Deco turquoise and diamond tiara, previously owned by Nancy, Viscountess Astor, which sold for US$1,195,086.78 in London. This marked the tiara's first presentation in London in almost a century. Multiple lots exceeded US$1 million across Bonhams' global salerooms. Jean Ghika, Bonhams Global Director Jewellery, noted the firm was entrusted with exceptional jewels and gemstones throughout the year. The department successfully sold several significant single-owner collections. The tiara's hammer price surpassed three times its estimate.
