Bonhams just wrapped up their first-ever Asia Week in New York, bringing in a fantastic total of $12.5 million through six live auctions at their new U.S. headquarters at 111 West 57th Street. The event highlighted the strong interest in Asian art, particularly with two standout pieces, each selling for $889,500: a Pair of Rare and Magnificent Carved Imperial Zitan Corner-Leg Tables and an early print of Katsushika Hokusai's famous work, Kanagawa-oki nami-ura, from 1760–1849. The third part of Francine and Bernard Wald's snuff bottle collection was a hit too, with 99% of items sold. Dessa Goddard, Senior VP and US Head of Asian Art, commended the event's success, which took place in March, marking a key moment for Bonhams in the U.S. market.
