Bong Joon-ho's 'Mother' arrives in Italian cinemas July 1

Bong Joon-ho's 2009 thriller 'Mother' (Madre) will be released in Italian cinemas on July 1, 2021, distributed by PFA Films and Emme Cinematografia. The film follows a mother who investigates her son's murder accusation after a student is found dead. Bong Joon-ho gained global fame with 'Parasite', which won the Palme d'Or and four Oscars including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best International Feature Film. 'Mother' is one of seven feature films that established him as a master of international cinema. The plot centers on Do-joon (Won Bin), a 27-year-old dependent on his mother, who runs a herbal medicine shop and practices acupuncture. After a night of drinking, Do-joon follows a student who later turns up dead; he becomes the prime suspect. With lazy police and a corrupt lawyer, the mother launches her own investigation to prove his innocence.
