Bonelli Comics Heroes Unite Against Climate Crisis in New Nathan Never Issue

Sergio Bonelli Editore, in collaboration with Italy's Ministry of Ecological Transition (MiTE), has released a new comic album titled "Nathan Never. Uniti per il pianeta" (Nathan Never: United for the Planet), published on January 13, 2022. This is the second joint effort between the ministry and the publisher, following a previous short story in July 2021. The comic is set in a distant future where the consequences of present-day ecological mistakes are felt. Protagonist Nathan Never, a former police officer, teams up with fellow Bonelli heroes Mister No and Martin Mystère to combat environmental catastrophe. A new character, Greta Suzuki—a teenage scientist inspired by Greta Thunberg and Canadian activist Severn Cullis-Suzuki—joins them. The story uses climate fiction and science fiction to explain current climate challenges, aiming to educate the public. Bonelli has printed all its comics on certified ecological paper since 2013. The publisher's press release emphasizes that while much has been done, more action is needed to stop climate change and protect against existing damage, framing the climate fight as the final frontier to keep climate fiction from becoming reality.
