Bonaventure Soh Bejeng Ndikung to Curate 36th Bienal de São Paulo

The 36th Bienal de São Paulo is set to take place in the latter half of 2025, with Bonaventure Soh Bejeng Ndikung as its curator. Ndikung, who hails from Yaoundé, Cameroon, is a biotechnologist, author, and curator. He has recently taken on the role of director and chief curator at Berlin's Haus der Kulturen der Welt (HKW) since January. His previous positions include founding artistic director of SAVVY Contemporary in Berlin, director of sonsbeek20->24 in the Netherlands, and overseeing two editions of the Bamako Encounters – African Biennale of Photography in Mali. He earned a PhD in Medical Biotechnology from Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf/TU Berlin and completed postdoctoral work in biophysics at Université de Montpellier, France. Ndikung emphasized that biennials are crucial indicators of sociopolitical dynamics, viewing the Bienal de São Paulo as a tool for capturing socioeconomic, geopolitical, and environmental shifts, which can help pave the way for a fairer future.
