Bologna's Collegio Venturoli Opens Residency for Young Local Artists

institutional · 2026-04-27

Established in 1993, the Fondazione Collegio Artistico Angelo Venturoli in Bologna, which evolved from the 19th-century Collegio Venturoli, provides support to local artists through residencies and studio spaces. A competition, which will conclude on April 3, 2023, aims to choose five emerging sculptors, painters, and architects from Bologna for renewable studio access until they reach 30. Candidates will be evaluated based on their portfolio, an interview, and a written examination. The foundation, rooted in architect Angelo Venturoli's 1825 legacy, is housed in a 17th-century structure on via Centotrecento, adjacent to the Accademia di Belle Arti di Bologna. Noteworthy alumni include Sissi, the current artistic director. New residencies will be allocated by June 2023 for artists aged 18–27, and a group exhibition at the Gipsoteca will showcase works from outgoing fellows.
