architecture-design · 2026-04-27

The winning design for Bologna's new Museo dei bambini e delle bambine, located in the Pilastro district, has been chosen. A temporary consortium headed by Aut Aut Architettura emerged victorious in the competition organized by the municipality alongside the Order of Architects of Bologna. The project, with a budget exceeding €3.6 million, is supported by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan. Aimed at children from 0 to 12 years old, the 1,500-square-meter wooden facility will include two levels, a functional roof, and an interactive garden. Construction is set to commence in July 2023, with completion anticipated in the first half of 2026. Mayor Matteo Lepore referred to the museum as "a playful factory of experiences and knowledge."
