Bologna marks 1980 station bombing with four cultural events

On the 37th anniversary of the Bologna railway station bombing, which killed 85 people on August 2, 1980, the city is hosting four cultural initiatives. 'Cantiere 2 Agosto' features 85 volunteer narrators telling victims' stories from 85 natural stages across Bologna from 11:00 to 23:00, promoted by the Legislative Assembly of Emilia-Romagna with the Association of Families of Victims, conceived by Matteo Belli with historical consultancy by Cinzia Venturoli. TPER will display the historic bus 37 (license plate 4030), which transported the wounded and victims, in Piazza Medaglie d'Oro. The International Composition Competition '2 Agosto' will hold a concert in Piazza Maggiore featuring the Orchestra of the Fondazione Arturo Toscanini conducted by Alessandro Cadario, performing winning pieces including Mohammad Amin Sharifi's 'TrombionOphone or Riders in the Field of Hope'. A photographic exhibition 'Una giornata estiva' by Martino Lombezzi, curated by Foto Forum, portrays survivors and is first shown in Bolzano at Palazzo Provinciale 2 until September 8, 2017.
