Bologna Honors Oscar Piattella with Three Exhibitions for ART CITY 2025

Bologna presents a comprehensive project dedicated to Oscar Piattella (Pesaro, 1932 – Urbino, 2023), comprising three exhibitions under the patronage of DO UT DO as part of ART CITY 2025. The first section, "Oscar Piattella. I Muri," curated by Aldo Iori and Alberto Mazzacchera, features eight large-format works from the "I Muri" cycle (1958–1986) at the Cappella di Santa Maria dei Bulgari, Biblioteca Comunale dell'Archiginnasio. Visual designer Paolo Buroni enhances the display with digital projections, creating an immersive environment that blends materiality and light. The second section, "I segni del cosmo," is hosted at PwC's premises, while the third, "Magnetismo architetturale," takes place at Galleria Stefano Forni. Piattella explored the expressive potential of walls aesthetically, conceptually, and historically, from the "Mur di Parigi" after World War II to the Berlin Wall, treating walls as thresholds where light transforms pictorial space into a palimpsest of memory. His work engages with Art Informel and unconventional materials reminiscent of Dubuffet, but with a controlled composition distinct from Burri's fire-based technique. Yves Bonnefoy described his works as an "absolute that drags the spirit into the non-visible," and Massimo Cacciari noted that "what appears is nothing but the shattering of inner Light."
