Bologna Children’s Book Fair Turns 60, Book Pride Returns to Milan

March hosts two significant book fairs in Italy. The Bologna Children’s Book Fair, taking place from March 6–9, 2023, at BolognaFiere, marks its 60th anniversary with participation from more than 1,400 exhibitors across 90 nations. This premier event facilitates the exchange of children’s content rights, with Italy’s children’s book market valued at €268.4 million. Notable attractions include exhibitions celebrating Italo Calvino’s centenary and "Ukraine Illustrated." A new section, initiated by Bodour Al Qasimi, advocates for gender equality in publishing. Additionally, BolognaBookPlus returns for its second year, spotlighting generalist publishing and honoring Greece as the 2023 Market of Honor. Book Pride 2023 in Milan, from March 10–12, showcases over 180 publishers, 300 authors, and 250 events, curated by Marco Amerighi and Laura Pezzino.
