Bologna Children's Book Fair 2024: Jury Reveals Global Illustration Trends
The 61st Bologna Children's Book Fair (BCBF) is set to take place at BolognaFiere from April 8 to 11, 2024, showcasing the Illustrators Exhibition. The jury for 2024 comprises Marco Ghidelli, Lee Ho-baek, Xiaoyan Huang, and Øyvind Torseter. From a total of 3,520 submissions across 81 nations, chosen artworks will be displayed in Bologna and embark on a two-year global tour. Participants under 35 have the chance to earn a €15,000 scholarship, while unpublished artists under 30 can attend the ARS IN FABULA Master in Illustration for Publishing at no cost. Selected pieces will be featured online and included in the Illustrators Annual catalog by Corraini, featuring a cover by Paloma Valdivia. The jury observed trends in classical methods, irony, and societal themes, with differing views on AI.
