Bohlin Cywinski Jackson completes relaxed tasting room for Auteur Wines in Sonoma County

US architecture studio Bohlin Cywinski Jackson has designed a new tasting room for Auteur Wines in Sonoma County, California, prioritizing a casual atmosphere and connection to the landscape. The project, named Auteur Russian River, is located near Healdsburg on an eight-acre former hops farm. The 3,000-square-foot building features a limestone front wall with limited openings and a rear facade of 50-foot-long windows offering vineyard views. A thin shed roof follows the slope and extends for shade. Interiors include a main tasting room, a lounge with a blackened-steel fireplace, and a private tasting room. The building uses oak floors, cedar ceilings, and a mix of wood finishes. Sustainability measures include a 24-kW solar array, native drought-tolerant landscaping, and bioswales for stormwater management.
