Bocci's 'Light as Medium' installation transforms Milan apartment into immersive lighting laboratory

architecture-design · 2026-04-20

Yesterday, Bocci unveiled its 'Light as Medium' installation at its Milan apartment showroom, coinciding with design week. This immersive exhibition showcases radiant glass structures that flow from the ceilings and are grouped together. Omer Arbel, the founder, conceptualizes light as a tangible entity, while curator David Alhadeff worked on this abstract presentation, differing from last year's exhibit. The installation features both new creations and reinterpreted series, including a bathroom piece that displays every item from the Bocci catalogue in a mirrored column. The hallway highlights '147 Wave' with 200 illuminated glass panels, while the living room showcases a series of hand-blown glass orbs. The bedroom features 24 '141' pieces, and the kitchen boasts a sloping glass tile surface. Alhadeff emphasizes that the change in spatial scale improves perception.
