Bob Krieger, influential fashion photographer and portraitist, dies at 84

Bob Krieger, a renowned portrait photographer, passed away at the age of 84 in Santo Domingo, where he had prolonged his visit due to COVID-19 restrictions. The exact cause of his death remains under investigation. Born in 1936 in Alexandria, Egypt, to a Prussian father and a Sicilian mother—who was a great-niece of painter Giuseppe Cammarano—Krieger's childhood governess was Iolanda Margherita of Savoy. In 1967, he relocated to Milan, collaborating with prestigious fashion labels such as Armani, Valentino, and Versace. He gained fame for his unique portraits of figures like Gianni Agnelli, Giorgio Armani, and Silvio Berlusconi. In 2011, Milan's Palazzo Reale held a retrospective exhibition titled "KRGR. Bob Krieger – Ricordi tra fotografia e arte," featuring over four decades of his artistry.
