Bob Dylan's Visual Art Retrospective Opens at Frost Art Museum in Miami
The Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum in Miami presents 'Retrospectrum', the most comprehensive survey of Bob Dylan's visual art ever held in the United States. Running from November 30, 2021 to April 17, 2022, the exhibition features over 180 works including acrylics, watercolors, drawings, and iron sculptures spanning six decades. Highlights include the 'Deep Focus' series of 40 paintings based on film scenes. Digital screens provide immersive experiences connecting to Dylan's music and literature. The show previously debuted at the Modern Art Museum in Shanghai in 2019, curated by artistic director Shai Baitel. Museum director Jordana Pomeroy called Miami fortunate to host the exhibition. Dylan himself reflected on seeing his works years later as part of a long arc of perception shaped by life. Additionally, the Bob Dylan Center is set to open on May 10, 2022 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, housing approximately 100,000 objects from Dylan's personal archive, including the 'Madison Tapes' and 'Bailey Tapes'.
